The Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe (OSCE) Minsk Group is important because it is the only way to prevent war.

US Ambassador to Georgia, Ian Kelly, who used to be the US Co-Chair of the OSCE Minsk Group, told the aforementioned to Jnews.

When asked to what extent the escalation of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict is possible, the ambassador said the most important thing is that there would not be a war because if it resumes, it will be very difficult to predict what will happen.

But most importantly, in his view, starting a war is not in the interests of both Armenia and Azerbaijan.

As per Kelly, the Minsk Group is important in this process, since it is owing to this group that there is discourse between Yerevan and Baku.

And to the remark that, nonetheless, both the Minsk Group and this discourse are considered passive and inactive, the American diplomat responded that as long as the parties to the conflict do not wish to resolve this matter, there will be very little progress toward settling this conflict.
