Prime Minister of Armenia Karen Karapetyan on Wednesday paid a working visit to the country's Ararat province.

Karapetyan visited International Masis Tabak LLC, the press-service of the Government informed Armenian News – NEWS.am.  The PM got familiarized with the manufacturing process of the company, which employs 580 people with average salary of 40,000 AMD.

In 2016, 705 ha raw material of tobacco was grown in Armenia and Artsakh, as a result of which 8.5 thousands tons were sold, this being 10 percent more as compared to last year. Besides, the company production increased by 10 percent last year.

The tobacco of local production is exported to two dozens of countries, the volume of export having grown by 40 times during the recent 6 years. 

Karapetyan also visited the ''Golden axe'' Armenian-Iranian slaughter house in the town of Masis. It has 100 employers, who can slaughter up to 650 heads of sheep and lambs in one shift.   

Furthermore, the PM had meetings with the heads of rural organizations during which he discussed issues related to the sales process, company programs and existing issues. Karapetyan urged to increase the volumes of production and implement new programs.

Apart from this, the PM got familiarized with the activity of Ararat gold extraction plant.  The investment volumes of GeoProMining make up $140 million. Albion technological bloc has been constructed in the plant, which now has 1058 employees, whose average salary in the manufacturing sector constitutes 233,000 AMD.

Afterwards, the PM visited the Greenhouse greenhouse facility established in 2014, where tomatoes, eggplants, peppers and beetroots are grown. In fact, instead of the original 22,000 tons, the harvest reaches 40,000 tons here.
