The Republican Party of Armenia (RPA) should be deprived of the opportunity to take part in the upcoming elections.

Raffi Hovannisian, who is the member of Ohanyan-Raffi-Oskanian (ORO) bloc and leader of Heritage Party, told the aforementioned to journalists during the campaign rally in Metsamor town Saturday.

“There is evidence that they abused the administrative resources and brought the pre-election processes beyond the scope of law,” he said, adding that the school principals themselves admitted that they drew up lists, frightened people and made them vote for the ruling party.

“This is a gross violation of law. If something like this happened in some western county, criminal cases would have been launched. Moreover, the party would itself be held accountable and deprived of the opportunity to take part in the elections. The legitimacy of elections is, after all, determined not only by how they are held right on the voting day but also by pre-election processes,” he stressed.

The politician also noted that the RPA launched its election campaign long before the fixed date. Moreover, their representatives used violence and arrested people for political considerations, Hovannisian added.

Referring to the issue as to whether it is necessary to hold other directors of schools and kindergartens accountable, the ORO bloc member said that this should be decided by the court but it is a fact that these people did violate the law.
