A 40-year-old Armenian citizen, who was wanted along the lines of the case into the Igla missile system, was detained in Georgia, informed the latter’s Ministry of Internal Affairs.

Upon the request of the law enforcement authorities of Armenia, the Georgian internal affairs ministry officers on Monday detained—in capital city Tbilisi—Armenian citizen Robert A. The National Security Service (NSS) of Armenia had received preliminary information on a group of Armenian citizens’ smuggling Igla missile system into Armenia. Subsequently, the system launcher, along with its 9M39 missile, was discovered and confiscated.

Also, as per the NSS, credible information was received, according to which the persons who acquired and transferred the components of this missile system had acted with prior agreement with, and order of, Republic of Artsakh (Nagorno-Karabakh Republic/NKR) former Defense Minister and Defense Army Commander Samvel Babayan.
