YEREVAN. - Foreign Minister of Armenia Edward Nalbandian on Friday received Executive Secretary of CIS, Sergei Lebedev, who heads the CIS observation mission, which will work during the Armenian parliamentary elections.

Welcoming the guest, FM Nalbandian noted that attaching importance to the CIS role in strengthening and expanding the cooperation between the member-states, Armenia will continue its active engagement in all the directions of the organization’s activity.

Nalbandian and Lebedev also discussed issues related to the implementation of observation mission during the upcoming parliamentary elections.  In this regard, the CIS Secretary General noted that around 170 observers, who will work in Yerevan and all the provinces, will conduct observation mission under the auspices of the organization.

Furthermore, the CIS Executive Secretary highly appreciated Armenia’s involvement in the activity of the organization, expressing satisfaction with the productive cooperation between the Armenian representatives and CIS Executive Secretariat.

Apart from this, the interlocutors discussed the preparatory work for the upcoming sessions of the CIS regulatory bodies.
