Famous French-Armenian singer Charles Aznavour said that his language is Armenian since his birth, but he was born in France and his main working language is French.

“I have never been called an Armenian singer, I am always called a French singer”, legendary chansonnier noted during a media conference in Moscow.

He noted that he began to learn Russian and is already trying to read: “This time I decided to learn Russian. There are various books in French, for example, a book “Russian for Dummies”.  I had to learn Russian for a long time.”

He said that he grew up in a Russian-speaking family, but did not learn the language before, because his sister and he had to teach their parents French.

“Russian language has always been close to us,” the singer explained.
