European People’s Party (EPP) President Joseph Daul congratulated the ruling Republican Party of Armenia (RPA) on its victory in the parliamentary election in the country.

“Congratulations to the Republican Party of Armenia for their clear victory in Armenian parliament elections on Sunday,” the EPP President noted on his official Tweeter account. “A strong mandate means more responsibility: to deliver on necessary reforms that benefit citizens & to improve further cooperation with EU.”

The EPP is a European political party, a transnational organization comprising other political parties.

The RPA, which is led by its chairman and President of Armenia Serzh Sargsyan, is an EPP member since 2012.

According to preliminary results of Sunday’s National Assembly election, the ruling Republican Party of Armenia has received the most number of votes, with over 49 percent.
