At least two people were killed and nine more were injured as a result of the earthquake hitting Iran, TASS reported quoting Fars.

An earthquake measuring 6.1 struck an area near the city of Mashhad in Iran’s northeastern province of Khorasan Razavi on Wednesday. Accordung to preliminary reports,seven settlements were destroyed as a result of the quake in the northeast of Iran.

The big quake was followed by several aftershocks of 4.7, 4, 3.6, 4.4, 3.7, 4.6 and 4.1 magnitude within half an hour.
