Over the recent two years adequate measures have been taken for preservation of Muslim monuments on the territory of Nagorno-Karabakh.

According to Head of Tourism Department at NKR Government Sergey Shahverdyan, the roof of a mosque in Shushi was restored in early 2009. Shahverdyan stressed the mosques in Shushi and Akna and their surroundings were cleaned from rubble and fenced.

“These works were funded by NKR state budget and the activities on preservation of Muslim cultural heritage will continue in 2011,” Shahverdyan stated.
