US President Donald Trump arrived in Sicily, ahead of a two-day G7 summit at which other leaders are expected to pressure him to soften his stance on trade and climate change, Reuters reported.

The G7 meeting in the resort town of Taormina is the last leg of a nine-day tour by Trump of the Middle East and Europe.

Trump and leaders of  Japan, Canada, Germany, France, the UK and Italy will hold two-day talks in Sicily, where the US president is expected to emphasize the importance of domestic economic growth.

His G7 counterparts are particularly concerned that he might follow through on a campaign pledge to promote a protectionist agenda, and might also walk away from U.S. commitments to cut greenhouse gas emissions under the 2015 Paris Agreement.
According to the Hill, President Trump is weighing changes to U.S. sanctions against Russia, National Economic Council Director Gary Cohn said

"I think the president is looking at it," Cohn told reporters when asked about the president's position on Russian sanctions. "Right now, we don’t have a position."

Turning to other likely discussions at the G7, Cohn said: "Terrorism is going to be a very big topic." He added that the leaders would also discuss cyber security, North Korea, Afghanistan, Pakistan and Russia.
