The situation with Russian diplomats in Moldova is paradoxical and demonstrates the atmosphere in that country, official Spokeswoman for the Russian MFA, Maria Zakharova, stated on Monday, RIA Novosti reports.

According to her, the Russian Embassy in Chisinau on Monday received a note from Moldovan MFA on declaring several Russian diplomats personae non grata. This was “immediately followed by the statement” of Moldovan President Igor Dodon “condemning these, in his words, outrageous actions.”

“The situation is paradoxical but demonstrative: it is apparent that it has noting to do with the work of the Russian diplomats but demonstrates the development of situation in Moldova,” she noted.
