Iran is playing a key role in the development of energy relations between Armenia and Turkmenistan, Armenia’s Deputy Energy Minister Hayk Harutyunyan told Armenian News-NEWS.am.

Harutyunyan is representing Armenia at International Energy Charter Forum in Ashgabat, Turkmenistan.

Touching upon the possibility of transit of Turkmen gas through the territory of Iran, Harutyunyan noted: “Of course, there are some discussion on this, there are numerous opportunities for cooperation, both in the electricity and gas sectors. But to begin cooperation, trilateral consent is needed and there are certain challenges, because each of the three sides has different interests, and sometimes it is difficult to compare these interests. That is, Iran is playing a key role in the development of relations between Armenia and Turkmenistan. And there has not yet been a definitive agreement with Iran on the matter”.
