Azerbaijani journalist Afgan Muhtarlı, who went missing in Georgia’s capital city of Tbilisi, was taken to Azerbaijan’s capital city of Baku.

Attorney Neymat Karimli told APA news agency of Azerbaijan that Muhtarlı will stand trial.

On Tuesday, Muhtarlı had bid farewell to his friend in Tbilisi, saying that he was going home, but, subsequently, there was no information from him.

Muhtarlı had left Azerbaijan three years ago, and as a result of pressure on NGOs and independent media, and after the closing of the Baku office of RFE/RL.

He was staging protests outside Azerbaijani office in Tbilisi, and recently, he was writing about the Azerbaijani activists’ singling out in Georgia.
