The current situation shows the shortcomings regarding coordination and actions for the fight against terrorism in Syria, RIA Novosti reported quoting Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov.
The sixth round of Geneva talks, which took place against the backdrop of the May 16 agreements on creation of zones of a de-escalation in Syria and decrease of the level of violence in the country, ended on May 19.
The Russian FM noted that the Kurds are not included in the list of groups that are invited to the Geneva talks through the line of the special envoy of the UN Staffan de Mistura, because some of the negotiators are opposing their presence. At the same time, Lavrov added that the Kurds are “a real force on the ground, and are part of the Syrian state.”
