The prices for air ticket in Gyumri, the second largest city of Armenia, have for some reason gone up.

Head of the Program Development and Analysis DEaprtment of the Shirak province administration, Karen Badishyan, told the aforementioned to Armenian News – NEWS.am at the consultation with the Ministry of Economic Development and Investments, which was chaired by the State Tourism Committee of Armenia.

The prices were initially lower, but the situation has changed. “It is necessary to do so that the prices don’t exceed the reasonable limits. More tourists will then come to us,” he added.

Referring to the improvement works, Badishyan noted that they have already been launched in the historical center of the city: Sections of Rustaveli and Shiraz streets are being repaired.

A fund should be formed for financing the improvement of the old city but not many investments are being made here. “These are mainly the funds of the prime minister. He stated about the prospects of Gyumri as a touristic center and decided to show by his personal example where to invest there. But let’s hope that new investors will come up,” the official added.
