YEREVAN. – The Human Rights Defender (Ombudsman) of Armenia, Arman Tatoyan, on Thursday met with the Council of Europe (CoE) Commissioner for Human Rights, Nils Muižnieks, in Strasbourg, France.

They discussed the work being carried out to prevent torture and ill-treatment in places of detention, the office of the ombudsman informed Armenian News-NEWS.am. 

Also, Tatoyan presented the legislative changes which he proposed regarding prisoners’ rights. 

In addition, the interlocutors reflected on the functions that are envisioned under the constitutional Law on the Human Rights Defender, and they underscored cooperation with the civil society.
