US President Donald Trump condemned dual terrorist attacks in Iran but warned that state sponsors of terrorism "risk falling victim to the evil they promote," The Guardian reported.

"We grieve and pray for the innocent victims of the terrorist attacks in Iran, and for the Iranian people, who are going through such challenging times," he said in the statement.

But he suggested Iran shared in the blame: "We underscore that states that sponsor terrorism risk falling victim to the evil they promote."

Gunmen and suicide bombers on Wednesday carried out attacks on Iran’s parliament and the mausoleum of revolutionary founder Ruhollah Khomeini in capital city Tehran, killing 12 people and injuring 42 others.

The Islamic State militant group has claimed responsibility for these attacks.
