Iranian parliament made the remarks while addressing the funeral ceremony held in the Iranian Parliament for the victims who were martyred in Wednesday’s twin terrorist attacks in the Iranian capital, IRNA reported.

Terrorists tried to undermine the democratic and religious foundations of the nation, but they failed to do so, he said. 

Present at the ceremony today were also heads of three branches of power, President Hassan Rouhani, Parliament Speaker Ali Larijani and Judiciary Chief Ayatollah Sadeq Amoli Larijani.

On June 7, gunmen and suicide bombers carried out attacks on Iran’s parliament and the mausoleum of revolutionary founder Ruhollah Khomeini in capital city Tehran, killing 17 and injuring 52 people.

The Islamic State militant group has claimed responsibility for these attacks.
