YEREVAN. - According to the doing business index, Armenia has a favorable ranking as compared to other EAEU countries.

Prime Minister of Armenia Karen Karapetyan said the aforementioned in his speech delivered at the annual meeting of the Belgium and Netherlands-led International Monetary Fund (IMF) and World Bank (WB) subgroup of countries.

In his speech, Karen Karapetyan underscored the importance of not only the work aimed at finding ideas and solutions to the common microeconomic issues through exchange of experience, but also to that of understanding and assessing the economic benefits and opportunities of the participating states, the Armenian Government informed Armenian News – NEWS.am. He also expressed conviction that the unity and the joint efforts aimed at overcoming the issues and challenges will make the participating countries stronger and more purposeful.

“The group meetings are also a successful platform from this perspective. For instance, Armenia is on the one hand at the crossroads of Europe and Asia, being [on the other hand] an EAEU member state, which has a favorable ranking as compared to other states. We also have good partnership relations and use GSP+ regime. Therefore, our economic and geographical location and EAEU membership can be used efficiently in order to comprehensively develop the trade and economic ties of other countries,” the PM noted.

He also touched on the economic development prospects of Armenia, presenting the steps taken in that direction. “The current economic policy of Armenia is aimed at the involvement of investments insurance of economic growth through the promotion of exportable branches. We aim to create a favorable investment climate through making deep reforms, gradually strengthening the competitiveness of the country. Parallel with the reforms being implemented, the directions of the Armenian economic policy are aimed at the deepening of the international economic relations in different cooperation formats, where the IMF and WB have a very important contribution,” Karapetyan concluded, wishing efficient work to the participating delegations.
