The OSCE Minsk Group is expected to make targeted statements for the sake of preventing new human losses and in favor of regional stability.

Chairman of the Standing Committee on Foreign Relations of the National Assembly (NA) of Armenia, Armen Ashotyan, said the aforementioned on Tuesday at the meeting with Kazakhstan Ambassador to Armenia Timur Urazayev.

The Chairman praised the development dynamics of relations between the Armenian and Kazakhstan parliaments, expressing hope that during his term of office it will be possible to give new quality and efficiency to the existing relations.

Ambassador Urazayev, for his part, congratulated Mr Ashotyan on his important role in conducting parliamentary diplomacy and on being elected for the responsible office. He also expressed hope that the mutual efficient activity will contribute to the inter-parliamentary ties, in particular the intensification of cooperation between friendship groups.

At the meeting, the Chairman and the Ambassador also referred to the issues related to cooperation and common interest within the framework of the Eurasian Economic Union, as well as the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO). Within this context, issues related to conducting efficient economic and investment policy were discussed. Special reference was made to the cooperation in the political sphere, which is a good basis for conducting more active investment policy.

Apart from this, the sides discussed issues concerning the cooperation in inter-parliamentary organizations.

Touching on issues of regional cooperation and stability, Ashotyan noted that in the regional level the success of almost all projects is jeopardized due to the destructive and adventurous policy of Azerbaijan. In this context, he spoke about the gross violations of ceasefire by the Azerbaijani armed forces on the contact line between Artsakh and Azerbaijan on June 16 and 17, noting that in this regard the OSCE Minsk Group is expected to make targeted statements for the sake of preventing new human losses and in favor of regional stability.

Ambassador Urazayev, for his part, noted that the military solution of conflicts should be ruled out in the 21st century.

By the end of the meeting, the sides referred to the objectives of the “Analytic Council” working group set up upon the initiative of the NA Standing Committee of Foreign Relations and discussed possibilities for cooperation.
