YEREVAN. – The Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe (OSCE) Minsk Group should make a transition from targeted statements to condemning statements.
Armenia-based Analytical Centre on Globalization and Regional Cooperation Director, political scientist Stepan Grigoryan, stated the aforementioned at Wednesday’s discussion on the Nagorno-Karabakh (Artsakh) conflict.
In his words, after the events in April 2016—when Azerbaijan unleashed a large-scale military aggression against Karabakh—we need to realize whom we are dealing with.
“Azerbaijan is predictable solely from the viewpoint that it will run a rigid policy, use snipers, whereas we [the Armenian party to the conflict] need to take appropriate steps,” Grigoryan noted.
The analyst stressed that, after the Minsk Group co-chairs’ recent targeted statement, in which they clearly stated who had fired the shots—Azerbaijan, their last statement was more neutral.
“The OSCE Minsk Group should make a transition from targeted statements to condemning statements,” Stepan Grigoryan added. “This is vital so that the OSCE Minsk Group doesn’t lose its standing.”
