The German Bundestag on Wednesday approved the dislocation of Bundeswehr troops from Turkey’s Incrilik military base.  461 out of 569 parliamentarians voted for the proposal put forward by the parties of the grand coalition, DW reports.

The decision was made because the Turkish government banned the German parliamentarians from visiting the military base. Various reasons were advanced as substantiations for the ban, in particular the adoption by the Bundestag of the resolution recognizing the Armenian Genocide. Another reason was the granting of political asylum by Berlin to the Turkish servicemen, who fled the country after the failed coup attempt.
