There are those who wish to turn the Eastern Partnership into an anti-Russian idea, Russian FM Sergey Lavrov said on Friday, RIA Novosti reports.

In his words, Russia told its partners of the post-Soviet area that “we wouldn’t like the Eastern Partnership to be used for presenting the so-called focus countries with a false challenge.” Lavrov also noted that Moscow was from the beginning ready to cooperate with the Eastern Partnership project and proposed Brussels “to look for projects, which will, within the framework of this program, unite the EU countries, which are focus countries within the framework of the Eastern Partnership and which would also include Russia’s participation.” However little has been done for this since then, the Russian FM said.
