Egyptian President Abdul Fattah al-Sisi on Friday issued a decree on granting amnesty to over 500 prisoners in connection with the upcoming fastbreaking Eid al-Fitr holiday, which marks the end of Ramadan fast, RIA Novosti reports.

The majority of those released are young activists sentenced for participating in unsanctioned protests.
