YEREVAN. – EU ambassador to Armenia, Piotr Switalski’s statement made a lot of fuss, but any sound offer is worth considering, Armenian Deputy Foreign Minister Shavarsh Кocharyan told reporters in the parliament on Thursday.

Head of the EU delegation to Armenia has recently spoken about shortcomings during the Armenia's April parliamentary elections and the need for reforms in the electoral system.

“We have already conducted reforms, but this does not mean that everything is fine now. Any proposal that proceeds from our interests should be discussed,” Kocharyan said.

At the same time, he added, that it is difficult to imagine how to implement the ambassador's proposal on including representatives of civil society in the Central Electoral Commission (CEC) of Armenia.

“The civil sector is needed, but for control, not governance,” the deputy minister said.
