After the plenary session of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE) on Friday, the initiative to express no-confidence to PACE President Pedro Agramunt was submitted to the secretariat of this organization. 

Naira Zohrabyan, a member of the National Assembly of Armenia Delegation to PACE, informed the aforementioned to Armenian News-NEWS.am.

“All of Agramunt’s powers as PACE President are suspended,” Zohrabyan said. “But since we have the 2/3 [vote] problem, the matter of Agramunt’s dismissal will be put to the vote on the very first day of the [PACE] fall session.”

At the summer session which is wrapping up in Strasbourg, France, the European People’s Party (EPP) group on Wednesday decided to remove PACE President Pedro Agramunt from the group. Subsequently, the Assembly deputies adopted a resolution on holding PACE members to account, and started collecting signatures to dismiss Agramunt.
