YEREVAN. – On late Friday evening, the residents and guests of Yerevan witnessed an unusual situation at the heart of the capital city of Armenia.

Police and rescuers, Ministry of Emergency Situations’ (MES) vehicles, ambulances and fire brigades had assembled, as drills were conducted at Karen Demirchyan Yerevan Subway (PHOTOS).

The objective of these drills was to coordinate the work among the subway staff, rescuers, police, physicians, and water, natural gas and electricity service employees.

According to the scenario, there were “explosions” and “fire” at Yerevan subway, and the ensuing measures had to be taken.

“The measures are assessed as satisfactory,” Mushegh Ghazaryan, head of the MES Rescue Service, told reporters after the drills. “The next one will be better.”
