YEREVAN. – In 2016, Armenia increased its exports to the other Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU) countries by 53 percent.

Tatiana Valovaya, Eurasian Economic Commission (EEC)—which is the executive body of the EAEU—Board member and Minister in charge of the Development of Integration and Macroeconomics, stated the aforesaid at the roundtable discussion in Armenia’s capital city of Yerevan, and devoted to the first results since the country’s EAEU membership two years ago.

She stressed that, first and foremost, Armenia’s positions have strengthened in terms of export of agricultural products.

Valovaya noted that this growth in Armenia’s exports is connected with industrial production in the country. The EEC official stated that the industrial production growth in Armenia was 6.7 percent in the year past, and that there was a similar situation also in the current year.

Tatiana Valovaya added, however, that there also are shortcomings that need to be addressed and resolved.
