YEREVAN. – The National Assembly of Armenia on Thursday adopted in the second—and final—reading the bill on making additions to the law on the ecosystem of Lake Sevan. 

The proposed law passed by a vote of 77 for and 4 against. 

According to this bill, 100 million cubic meters of additional water will be taken from the lake in the current year.

The respective explanation which the government had submitted states that this additional removal of water from Lake Sevan is needed for irrigation.
