YEREVAN. – Armenia will not even think about a single Eurasian currency over the next 15 to 20 years.

Chairman of the Central Bank of Armenia, Arthur Javadyan, stated the above-said at said during Thursday’s National Assembly debates on the 2016 monetary policy report of the bank. 

He recalled that some time ago, heads of the financial regulators of the five Eurasian Economic Union member countries—Armenia, Russia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, and Kyrgyzstan—had adopted a special document, which states that they will not conduct talks on preparations for transition to a single currency, until 2025.

“Until the year 2025 on the scale of the Eurasian Union,” Javadyan noted. “But if we speak about Armenia, we believe that we will not need it in the next 15 to 20 years.”
