YEREVAN. – Armenian Genocide should not be discussed in the parliaments of foreign countries, but in the Grand National Assembly (Turkish: Türkiye Büyük Millet Meclisi) of Turkey.

Garo Paylan, Istanbul Armenian MP of the opposition pro-Kurdish People’s Democratic Party (HDP) of Turkey, told about the aforementioned to Agos Armenian weekly of Istanbul.

“These crimes took place in Turkey, and [therefore] they should be discussed in the Meclis,” he stated. “Our pains are not discussed today in the Meclis. For that reason, they become the subject of discussion by the parliaments of other countries. And if this proposal [in the regulation of the Turkish parliament] is accepted, too, this will continue.”

Paylan added that his party will fight against this proposal.

The main opposition Republican People’s Party (CHP) also is against this proposal.

As reported earlier, surprising provisions will be made in the regulation of the Turkish parliament.
