The referendum on the independence of Iraqi Kurdistan will have disastrous consequences for the country and the region, RIA Novosti reported quoting Iran's Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif.
"We believe that the referendum is an incorrect choice," said Zarif, who was in New York for a high-level U.N. meeting on sustainable development.
The minister said that it will catastrophically affect security of Iraq and will have a disastrous impact on regional security.
Iraqi Kurdistan is an autonomous region in the north of Iraq.
