The Armenian Genocide was not ended in 1915. It is going on - Turkey has not apologized for its crimes, it is destroying Armenian cultural heritage, pursuing a policy of discrimination against national minorities, Tigran Kuyumjian (France), stated at the International Conference on the Crime of Genocide: Prevention, Condemnation and Elimination of Consequences in Yerevan.

After the Genocide, the founders of modern Turkey adopted a law prohibiting Armenians from returning to their historical homeland. They destroyed over 2,000 Armenian churches and as many Armenian schools, 400 Armenian monasteries. Thus, modern Turkey put its signature to further Armenian Genocide. Independent international experts estimate Armenians’ property in Turkey at US. $100 billion, the scholar said. The Armenian Genocide is going on, as Turkish authorities have not changed since Ottoman Empire. Only regime has changed, but power has step-by-step been handed over, Tigran Kuyumjian said. Turkey is not any more concealing either the historical or moral aspect of the Armenian Genocide, which is not the case with the financial aspect. The real picture of modern Turkey’s capital is clear in this case. Modern Turkey is a legal successor of the Ottoman Empire, which is the reason for its being unable to admit the Armenian Genocide, the scholar said. On the other hand, Turkish society is now opener with respect to issues related to the Armenian Genocide. Books and articles on the Armenian Genocides are published in Turkey now, Kuyumjian said.
