Syrian Armenians are taking revolutionary steps in horticulture in the Republic of Artsakh (Nagorno-Karabakh Republic/NKR).

Artsakh presidential adviser Tigran Abrahamyan has written about the aforementioned on his Facebook page, and added that, in particular, they are growing olives, pomelos, tangerines, and kiwi in the NKR.

According to Artsakhtimes, “Plants are cultivated [by Syrian Armenian Asmaryan brothers] in the territory of Berkadzor [village], that must not only edit the standards of gardening, but also our understanding of the possibilities Artsakh has in that field. Olives and pomelos, tangerines and kiwi feel like permanent residents of the Artsakhian land.”

The samples have been tested in Syrian laboratories.

“Those in charge of Syria’s agriculture said about Karabakh’s soil: this isn’t soil, this is manure; that is, it’s very rich; there is everything in it,” noted one of the Asmaryan brothers.

They also plan on growing cactus in Artsakh, for therapeutic and cosmetic purposes.
