YEREVAN. – Armenia is deeply saddened by the news on devastating earthquake that struck the border region of Iran and Iraq, Foreign Ministry tweeted on Monday.

“Our most heartfelt condolences to the bereaved families and peoples of both countries. Wishing those injured a speedy recovery,” the embassy said.

The death toll in the earthquake has risen to 200 in Iran, according to Press TV. The 7.2-magnitude quake occurred on Sunday evening. The underground tremors were registered 204 km northeast of the Iraqi capital city of Baghdad, and 104 km west of the Iranian town of Kermanshah.
