Kosovo's Prime Minister, Ramush Haradinaj, addressing the conference “NATO and the Western Balkans: Regional Dynamics in the Era of Global Security Challenges” which is being held in Prishtina said that Kosovo as a partner of NATO deserves to have its Army which will help NATO in maintaining regional security, RTLK reported.

“Kosovo deserves membership in NATO. We want NATO to stay in Kosovo. We are making efforts to establish the Armed Force of Kosovo, we believe that by 2020 we will conclude membership in NATO. We see NATO as a special factor of stability in the region, especially when it comes to fighting radicalism, and we see as a facilitator for Kosovo in order for Kosovo to stop absorbing security and to have a chance to help to maintain security. The Armed Force of Kosovo will help this process and preserve security for all citizens of Kosovo,” said Haradinaj.

He said that all countries of the region are facing various challenges, emphasizing Russia’s interference in Balkans, extremism, organized crime, cyber attacks, social-economic turmoil, noting however that NATO is helping in this direction reiterating that Kosovo should be allowed to have its Army to act jointly with NATO in fulfilling these tasks.
