YEREVAN. – Adoption of the law on military service means no one heard the voice of students in the parliament, protesting student said on Wednesday.

Vahan Kostanyan, member of For Science Development group, spoke during the protest action near the parliament building.

“Since our voice was not heard, we are launching an action of silence near the parliament, Kostanyan said, adding that they closed the entrance for all vehicles from and into the parliament area.

This law proposes to abolish military deferment, to which university students are against and are refusing to attend classes in protest of this bill. And on Tuesday morning, five of these students declared a hunger strike at Yerevan State University. But one of them later ended his hunger strike, due to his health condition growing worse.
