Russian President Vladimir Putin and his Armenian counterpart Serzh Sargsyan toured the Tretyakov Gallery, where artist Martiros Saryan’s paintings are on display, Kremlin reported.

The exhibition includes about 29 paintings, which mainly date back to the 1910s. Most of the paintings were created during or after the artist's travels in countries of the Middle East.

This is the first extensive exhibition of its collection of the artist’s early paintings by the Tretyakov Gallery, in cooperation with the Martiros Saryan Museum in Yerevan and the National Gallery of Armenia. The paintings on display capture the artist in his most striking period.
