YEREVAN. – As a result of discussions with the university students fighting against the abolishment of the right to military deferment in Armenia, an agreement was reached to organize respective parliamentary hearings.

National Assembly Vice Chairman Eduard Sharmazanov, who was the main negotiator with these students, on Friday stated about the aforementioned at a briefing with reporters in parliament.

“All concerned parties will be invited,” said Sharmazanov. “[These] parliamentary hearings will be held on November 22; it will be the start of roundtables, or discussions.”

He added that these talks will be public and be broadcast online.

In Eduard Sharmazanov’s, even though the already adopted Law on Military Service and the Status of Military Servicemen will not be recalled, there will be close to seventy relevant government decisions and sub-legislative acts, which can be developed together with students.
