YEREVAN. – There is no sense for Georgia to resell the portable anti-tank missile systems Javelin to Armenia or Azerbaijan. This was stated by the head of the Russian Center for Military Forecasting of the Institute of Political and Military Analysis Anatoly Tsyganok in a conversation with the Armenian News-NEWS.am correspondent.

According to him, the Armenian army is formed and equipped according to the type of the Russian Armed Forces, and about 90% of the weapons are either of Russian or Soviet type.

“Yes, indeed, we are selling weapons to Azerbaijan and Armenia. But here is a very interesting thing. I understand, in any case, that Azerbaijan will try to get the complexes, but they cannot afford it”, the expert said, and added that Russian weapons are much cheaper than foreign ones, and therefore, it is possible to buy much more, including ammunition.

At the same time, as the expert noted, the US is ready to sell to its “younger brothers in arms, who are ready to take it all” only obsolete types of weapons, which the Americans themselves no longer use. According to Anatoly Tsyganok, that’s exactly how the Americans sold their obsolete military ships to Azerbaijan. They also wanted to do the same with Georgia.

The anti-tank missile systems Javelin of American production cost Georgia 75 million dollars (about 64 million euros). Earlier, the Government of Georgia sent a request to Washington for the purchase of 410 Javelin anti-tank missiles, 72 sets of sighting equipment, 10 training complexes and 70 warheads for them.
