The European Union allocated additional € 40 million to Italy to combat migration crisis, TASS reported quoting the press service of the European Commission (EC).

New funds will be used to develop 11 projects to combat the crisis. In particular, they should help improve the conditions for migrants and asylum-seekers, including medical care and the services of translators.

According to the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Italy, more than 114 thousand migrants have arrived in the country by sea since the beginning of year, that is nearly 32% less, than for the same period in 2016.
