The Comprehensive and Enhanced Partnership Agreement (CEPA) signed between Armenia and EU is a historic event, Armen Ashotyan, Chairman of the Standing Committee on Foreign Relations of the National Assembly (NA) of Armenia told Armenian News-NEWS.am.

According to him, signing of the new agreement is a historical moment not only for Armenia, which managed to combine in its foreign policy strategic partnership with Russia, membership in the EAEU with wider cooperation with the EU.

"In respect of global policy, this agreement can be considered as the beginning of a victorious march of the policy of comparison in the political agenda of Europe," Ashotyan said. "Relations have been formed in the field of opposition for a long time. Armenia can be a small but tangible bridge, can prove that the policy of comparison has the right for life".

As the deputy noted, the importance of the agreement itself is obvious, it is designed to help in building of a constitutional state. The agreement gives a huge political potential, an opportunity to expect assistance, tools for achieving the set goals, a chance to have better Armenia, better life for citizens.

At the same time, he noted that the agreement has no magic properties, the implementation of its provisions will require long hard work, political will, civic consciousness.
