Speaking about the signing of new EU-Armenia agreement, Switalski said it was a big day, and the deal is important both for the people of Armenia and EU and will unite the societies. The head of EU delegation expressed confidence that he and his partners would do everything to implement the agreement.

Armenia undertook serious obligations under this agreement, namely the fight against corruption, fair judicial system, creating equal opportunities for business, one of the reporters said, asking what mechanisms EU has to monitoring the process, if the commitments are not fulfilled.

Mr. Switalski replied that the agreement is a joint effort, and both sides have committed themselves to intensifying their relations.

“The EU encourages but does not impose anything, so we can say about this great cooperation agreement that we are committed to doing more. We are sure that the assignments will be made in good spirit. I do not want to talk about the failures because I'm very optimistic that it will bring a new quality to our relationship. I am also optimistic about the implementation,” he added.
