Pope Francis has arrived in Myanmar to meet with the civilian and military leaders of the country. Following his visit to Myanmar, Francis will travel to Bangladesh to meet Rohingya refugees as well, Reuters reported. 

Thousands of pilgrims have welcomed Pope Francis, whose visit, according to observers, is fraught with serious diplomatic risks.

Rohingya refugees hope for Pope’s support. However, the Catholic Church urged Pope to avoid using the term “Rohingya”, since this ethnic minority is not officially recognized in the country.
