Russia believes that the Iranian nuclear deal is under threat, foreign minister Sergey Lavrov said.

“The largest agreement which we consider as an example of constructive multilateral cooperation, bearing in mind in particular the situation around the Iranian nuclear program is under threat,”  Lavrov said at a meeting of the Russian Council on Foreign Affairs, RIA Novosti reported.

On July 14, 2015, Iran and the six international mediators, among them the Russian Federation, the United States, UK, China, France, Germany, reached a historic agreement on the settlement of the long-standing problem of Iranian nuclear program. Tthe Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (VHAP) was adopted that lifted previous economic and financial sanctions adopted by the UN Security Council, the United States and the European Union.
