YEREVAN. – Armenian parliament's standing committee on foreign relations on Wednesday debated the draft statement on “Starting a Process of denunciation of the Republic of Armenia from the Eurasian Economic Union”.

The draft was put to voting and was finally rejected.

Only deputy Ararat Zurabyan from Tsarukyan bloc abstained from voting and then asked to correct his vote to a “for”. Everyone else was “against”. The draft was represented by the Yelq parliamentary group, so their representative did not vote.

The bill submitted by the Yelq faction particularly states: "As a result of the Republic of Armenia's joining the Eurasian Economic Union (EEU), there has been a marked decline in a number of social-economic areas, as well as no improvement in the security of the Republic of Armenia.”

This debate should has taken place on September 27, but was postponed because of absence of the main speaker, Edmon Marukyan.
