YEREVAN. – Armenian Minister of Economic Development and Investments of Suren Karayan met with French ambassador Jonathan Lacôte to discuss the prospects of Armenian-French economic interaction.

During the meeting Lacôte noted that the role of Armenia-EU Comprehensive and Expanded Partnership Agreement , as well as the country's chairmanship of the Ministerial Conference of the International Organization of La Francophonie, for the development of economic cooperation. In this context, the Ambassador noted importance of the expected visit of French President Emmanuel Macron to Armenia.

In turn, Karayan stressed that in order to bring the Armenian-French trade and economic ties to the level of political dialogue, both sides need to conduct serious work, while using unrealized potential.

The minister added that the upcoming opening of Meghri free trade zone can create new opportunities for the French business. He expressed confidence that the new Armenia-EU agreement will have an important impact on economic relations between the two countries.
