YEREVAN. – Armenia has a good legal framework for the fight against corruption, there is political will, but the struggle cannot proceed without changing social mindset, head of the EU delegation to Armenia Piotr Switalski said.

His remarks came during the meeting summing up “Strengthening Integrity and Combatting Corruption in Higher Education in Armenia” program implemented by the Council of Europe in the framework of EU/CoE “Partnership for Good Governance” project.

Ambassador said he studied the president's speech at the Special Investigation Service and the corruption manifestations mentioned in the report. Among the corruption cases mentioned there, unfortunately, there the names of the rectors of the two universities, he said, adding that the fight against corruption must be especially important in educational institutions.

The Ambassador reflected on the corruption as a problem in its own right, in education and beyond encouraging Higher Education institutions to embrace, support and enact a set of core values in the areas of ethics, transparency and anti-corruption, thus ensuring impartiality in teaching, student assessment and research.
