UN High Commissioner for Human Rights Zeid Ra’ad al-Hussein has condemned the violence committed by the security forces and rebels in Myanmar.

He announced about his intention to petition to the UN General Assembly with a proposal to conduct an international investigation into the crimes committed against the Rohingya in Myanmar, and some of which, in his view, may contain elements of genocide.

To this day, close to 626,000 Rohingya refugees have fled to neighboring Bangladesh to escape the violence committed against them in Myanmar.
