YEREVAN. – Foreign Minister of Armenia Edward, who is in Athens on an official visit, on Wednesday met with President Prokopis Pavlopoulos of Greece.

First, Pavlopoulos expressed the hope that this visit will contribute to the further strengthening of ties between Armenia and Greece, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Armenia informed Armenian News-NEWS.am. Nalbandian, in turn, said it is symbolic that he is in Greece on an official visit on the 25th anniversary of diplomatic relations between the two countries. Also, he conveyed the Armenian President’s greetings and best wishes, as well as an invitation to visit capital city Yerevan.

In addition, the Greek president and the Armenian FM expressed their satisfaction with the cooperation between the two countries.

Subsequently, they exchanged views on the avenues for deepening the political discourse and further intensifying economic ties between Armenia and Greece.

In the context of Armenia’s recent signing of the Comprehensive and Enhanced Partnership Agreement with the European Union (EU), the Armenian FM presented the expanding Armenia-EU relations.

Also, Edward Nalbandian informed Prokopis Pavlopoulos about the agenda and the main topics to be discussed at the La Francophonie summit to be convened next year in Yerevan. The Greek president, for his part, underscored the holding of this event in the capital city of Armenia, and wished success in organizing this summit.

Separately, the Armenian FM briefed the Greek president on the joint efforts by Armenia and the OSCE Minsk Group co-chair countries (Russia, US, and France) to achieve a pacific settlement of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict.
